All out for the first Clásico of the season

A date marked in red on the calendar of fans all over the world is coming up: the Clásico. It will be the first meeting of the season between Real Madrid and Barcelona, on LaLiga matchday 11 (4:15pm CET). Carlo Ancelotti‘s side are looking for a win at the Estadio Olimpico Lluís Companys to consolidate their position at the top of the table and distance themselves from the Blaugranas.

Our team finds itself immersed in a demanding week with two matches in five days. In the first one, against Braga in the third round of the Champions League, they won 2-1 away and extended their winning streak in the competition. This afternoon they will be looking for their ninth LaLiga win in Barcelona.

Best defensive team in LaLiga

Real Madrid are showing a great level at the back. In the 10 games played they have conceded seven goals, which makes them the best defensive team in the league. They are also doing very well at the other end. Their offensive average is 2.1 goals per game.

“It’s the best time to play a big game. The momentum is good and we’re looking forward to El Clásico,” said Ancelotti at the pre-match press conference. The Italian will be counting on Bellingham, who has been spectacular in the opening stages of the season with 11 goals. The Englishman has scored eight in LaLiga and is top scorer. Another player who is also in great form is Vini Jr., who was the MVP in the last game against Braga.

 

Barcelona

The novelty in this Clásico will be the setting. Barcelona are playing their matches at the Estadio Olimpico Lluís Companys this season due to the construction work at the Camp Nou. The Catalans start this LaLiga matchday with 24 points, one less than Real Madrid, and a record of seven wins and three draws. They have won all five of their home games.
