Sorry, Dolly Parton! Looks like Miley Cyrus went against your wishes and ditched her blonde hair.
The 30-year-old attended the The Daily Front Row’s Fashion Los Angeles Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday, April 23, with a brand-new look. Well, an old look, really. Cyrus traded her signature grown-out platinum for a playfully two-toned ‘Gemini’ style featuring her natural brunette colour. To the left of her centre-parting, the singer’s hair is a cool dark blonde, while on the right, she went for warm chocolate brown.
There’s no way to know if this look is a pit stop on the road to full brunette, or if the two-toned look is here to stay. This is Miley Cyrus, so anything could happen.

During an appearance on the Today show last year, Miley teased that she’d been contemplating a hair colour change-up. However, when she consulted godmother Dolly Parton, the 76-year-old was less than thrilled. “She clutched her pearls, gasped, and went back, and she goes, ‘You can’t do that. You are me.’”
Miley, who released her latest album, Endless Summer Vacation, last month, has been sporting a platinum blonde shag for a few years now, but elder millennials will recall that the OG, Disney-era Miley was all about that waist-length mermaid wave. Her signature brunette waves were, after all, how we differentiated Miley from her Hannah Montana alter ego. So, yeah, kind of iconic.
Miley presented her stylist Bradley Kenneth with the music stylist of the year award at the Fashion Los Angeles Awards on Sunday evening. She was dressed to the nines in head-to-toe Atelier Versace, styled by Kenneth, of course.
The star-studded event also featured honorées like Gwyneth Paltrow and celebrity presenters including Kim Kardashian and her daughter, North West, who presented Kim’s longtime hairstylist Chris Appleton with an award.
Could Miley be convinced to make her way back to the dark side like Kim, who kept up the platinum look for a little under a year? My money’s on a Met Gala reveal next week.
