POP22 – Jonathan Tame, Two Sides

Jonathan shares his insight into the sector and how, together as an industry, we must tell consumers why they should Love Paper, print and paper-based packaging as a sustainable material.

Consumers are increasingly aware of the impact their choices have on the environment and are influenced by environmental
or green claims made by trusted organisations. Many leading organisations, including banks, utility companies and telecommunications providers, are urging their customers to go paperless with claims that paperless bills, statements and other electronic communications save trees, are “greener” and better for the environment. These statements are greenwashing. The Two Sides anti-greenwash campaign tackles these misleading statements with fact-based information and research.

Jonathan Tame is the Managing Director for the global Two Sides campaign, which promotes the sustainability and attractiveness of print, paper, and paper packaging.

With 30 years of experience in this sector working for paper manufacturers, merchants, and printers. Previously Head of Environment for PaperlinX merchants, and an advisor to the UK Government on sustainable procurement for print and paper.
