Seven unmissable things to experience at the 2022 Ord Valley Muster

If you haven’t made it to the stunning North West yet, you’re missing the wealth of wonders in the area; from the famous Kimberley water holes described with awe by Nicole Kidman – ‘there is something up there in the Kununurra water’ – to the many gorges to hike through.

Each year people buy tickets to the Boab Metals Ord Valley Muster and take the opportunity to pack the 4WD and explore the Kimberley; to wake up early each day and make the most of their days in the seriously breathtaking North West. And with accommodation suited for any budget, it’s a trip that doesn’t discriminate.

So, muster up and road trip to the ultimate Kimberley festival.

Here are seven things that are not to be missed on your trip to the Kimberley at the 2022 Boab Metals Ord Valley Muster:

1. THE AVIAR HELISPIRT KIMBERLEY MOON EXPERIENCE

Find yourself under the Kimberley moon and stars at this truly unique live concert.

The Aviair HeliSpirit Kimberley Moon Experience (KME) is the pinnacle event of the Ord Valley Muster – held on May 14th – and will feature well known artists including Ian Moss, Sheppard, Baker Boy and King Stingray.

Opening the ‘KME’ – as the locals call it – will be the winner of the infamous Muster Idol.

Elevate your experience with the Muster Bar ticket, an all-inclusive bar, food and seating area.

2. KIMBERLEY FINE DIAMONDS DINNER

Part of the ‘KME’ is the exclusive black-tie dinner; an incredible way to enjoy the concert experience under the stars.

You’ll be served pre-dinner drinks and canapés on arrival and a delicious sit-down dinner before getting the opportunity to dance the night away.

3. CORROBOREE UNDER THE STARS

Experience the power of a traditional Corroboree by the Miriwoong Gajerrong people at the Corroboree Under the Stars. This event is a favourite on the Muster calendar, held on May 19th.

Showcasing local indigenous stories, customs and art, it’s an incredible opportunity to connect and immerse yourself in the local life, enjoying traditional bush tucker, too!

4. CULTURAL EXPERIENCES

Enjoy a wealth of unmissable indigenous cultural experiences, from Storytelling Night with elder David Newry, the Corroboree Under the Stars to Art in the Park, the Waringarri Arts Experience and more.

Notably, David Newry was named Aboriginal Person of the Year at East Kimberley Aboriginal Achievement Awards and the Waringarri Arts Centre is one of the oldest continuously operating art centres in Australia.

5. KIMBERLEY KITCHEN WITH MIGUEL MAESTRE

The beloved Kimberley Kitchen is back in 2022 – and with TV royalty! Join Spanish-born Australian celebrity chef, restaurateur, author, and television presenter Miguel Maestre on May 16th as he takes you through a culinary masterclass on how to create his famous Paella, under the stars.

6. COMEDY IN THE PARK

Award-winning Steph Tisdell will have you rolling down the aisle in stitches (May 18th). Stay tuned for the 2022 line-up announcement of Australian comedy royalty, and be prepared to LOL.

7. MUSTER RODEO

Yee-haw! Only at the Muster can you find yourself at a black-tie event one weekend and then watching a nail-biting rodeo the other. It’s a chance to watch local cowboys attempt the longest eight second ride of their life on saddle bronc, bull, and bullock rides. It’s all happening on May 21st.

There are so many ways to explore the Kimberley and the Ord Valley Muster is a must. With a huge program (exceeding the above) including concerts and cultural experiences, the ‘Muster’ has it all, across ten days. And there really is no end to the options, with bespoke tours created especially around the Muster program, too. For more information, visit the website.
