Sophia Culpo had eyes and ears on Braxton Berrios when she received confirmation that he cheated on her at the end of their two-year relationship.
The model, who announced her split with the Dolphins receiver on social media in March, explained that someone close to the Jets informed her of a conversation between Berrios and a teammate (Berrios signed with Miami in March) indicating his alleged infidelity.
“Someone we know was doing some digging for me around the team and that was how I got confirmation that this wasn’t the first girl also,” Culpo said during an appearance on her sister Aurora’s “Barely Filtered” podcast with Kristen Gaffney.
“(Berrios) was like, ‘Ladies don’t have to know about tonight,’ and this teammate was like, ‘I’m single, so, it’s fine.’ (Berrios) goes, ‘Oh, well I’m having fun tonight.’”
Said Gaffney: “Like if she doesn’t know, she doesn’t have to know.”
Culpo did not name who her spy was.
She explained that she had first learned about Berrios cheating from her older sister, fellow model and actress Olivia Culpo, who is engaged to 49ers star Christian McCaffrey.
“Technically, first I found out from Olivia because she was there [in Arizona for a Super Bowl party]. She calls me and she’s like ‘I’m so sorry I want you to hear this from me, he’s cheating on you,’” Culpo said.
“I just remember my stomach drops. I want to throw up … and then I call him and I go, ‘Was there anything you want to tell me?’ I never heard this tone in his voice, [and he said], ‘No.’
“We had a long conversation and one of the last things I will never forget him saying to me was: ‘I wouldn’t go forward with that story because that’s not how I remember it.’”
At the time, Berrios was linked to TikTok star and influencer Alix Earle, who was also in Arizona for the Super Bowl festivities.
In a separate interview on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast on Wednesday, Earle told host Alex Cooper that Berrios was not together with his ex while she was “hooking up” with him.
Earle — who lives in Miami — and Berrios are believed to still be involved, although she has said the two are not in a serious relationship.
The NFL player has made plenty of cameos on her social media recently.
Culpo shared in April that her relationship with Berrios ended in betrayal and said “a lot of trust was broken.”
She had moved in with him in New Jersey after two weeks of dating, she revealed on her sister’s podcast.
“I lost about 25 pounds the last year of dating and I was testing positive for multiple sclerosis,” Culpo said, adding that she hadn’t told anyone but her mother about the health scare.
Culpo explained that she didn’t inform Berrios of the matter so he could stay focused on football.
She also clarified that it was not a definitive diagnosis, and she was eventually cured.
Berrios addressed his split from Culpo in a video posted to his Instagram Story in June.
Berrios said the two split after they “had conversations along the lines of we just weren’t working out.”
Berrios and Earle attended the ESPY Awards together in July and posed for photos on the red carpet.
He signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins after his release from the Jets in March.
