The Cubs and Cardinals waited about an hour and a half past the scheduled starting time of 7:15 p.m. CT Friday and then this happened:
Tonight’s game has been postponed. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on July 13.
Tickets for tonight are good for 7,15 game that day.#stlcards #Cardinals #Cubs

You know, this didn’t seem to be handled well. Reports from various people on social media at Busch Stadium said that the teams probably could have played starting at 7:15 (with a light rain falling at times), maybe got six innings in before a heavier rain came. Then the game could have been suspended and finished Saturday.
There were jokes — or were they? — that the Cardinals were trying to avoid facing Shōta Imanaga, Friday’s scheduled Cubs starter. With the makeup game now happening six weeks from now, I’d imagine Imanaga will just be shifted to start Saturday’s game, which might be to his benefit, as that would give him an extra day of rest.
Saturday’s Cubs/Cardinals game is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. CT and be televised by Fos (coverage map). Further details on starting pitchers, etc. to come tomorrow. “As always, we await developments.”
