Bam Margera trial: Fmr. reality TV star agrees to plea deal as proceedings were about to begin in Chester County

WEST CHESTER, Pennsylvania (WPVI) — Former reality TV star Brandon “Bam” Margera accepted a plea deal just as his trial was about to begin in Chester County, Pennsylvania.

Margera pleaded guilty to two counts of disorderly conduct on Wednesday.

He will spend six months on probation and will be subject to random drug testing.

In court, Margera said he is thankful for this situation, saying it helped him clean up his act.

Judge Patrick Carmody said Margera’s recent sobriety is what the entire family was after and that it must continue during the probation time period.

If he tests positive for drugs he could face jail time.

Bam Margera speaks exclusively with Action News ahead of assault trial

Margera was originally charged with simple assault, making terroristic threats and harassment stemming from an April 2023 incident involving his brother, Jess, at the family home in Pocopson Township.

Margera was on the run from police for a few days before turning himself in.

Bam has struggled with mental health and substance abuse in the past.

His mother, April, spoke to Action News after the hearing.

“He’s doing really well and we want him to keep going and get this behind him, really. But we all love him and we just want him to do great,” she said.

“He’s been through a lot in his life, he’s had a lot of access and he’s had a lot of power and it’s hard to come down from that,” she continued.

He entered the Chester County courthouse in West Chester earlier Wednesday without saying a word, but we did catch up with him on Monday as he described what his life looks like now.

“Really good, in less than a month it’ll be a year of sobriety. I’ve pretty much said yes to every job to pay for a lot of custody battles and treatment center fees. So, I’m doing a lot of comic cons and I’m going to be all over the country, booked solid. Which is good, you know, because I spent a lot of time not being productive at all, and I don’t want to live that life anymore,” he said.
