A full Saturday of football begins with two teams that didn’t expect to be in this position. The Cincinnati Bengals and the Minnesota Vikings are in the playoff hunt, but neither team can rest down the stretch.

After a slow start, and an injury to Joe Burrow, the Bengals find themselves 7-6, and in need of help if the team wants to make the playoffs. Jake Browning has performed admirably in Burrow’s absence, but faces a tough task against a resurgent Vikings defense in Week 15.

On the other side, Minnesota is also relying on a different signal caller. Nick Mullens will get a shot to start after Joshua Dobbs struggled in Week 14. Mullens came on in relief of Dobbs and led the Vikings to a 3-0 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. Now that he’s been pushed into a starting position, Mullens will need to show a lot more if the Vikings hope to retain a playoff spot in the NFC.

Live38 updates

  • The Bengals were able to force a punt, but we’re headed to overtime at Paycor Stadium.

Cincinnati gets the ball, and a chance to keep their playoff hopes alive

  • After the extra point, we’re all tied again. 24-24.

  • What in the world. Tee Higgins catches a 21-yard pass. Without any of his body parts in the end zone, he somehow gets the ball over the pylon for the touchdown.

  • Vikings capitalize on the previous call as Mullens throws a touchdown to Addison with a little less than four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Pratt, the Bengals linebacker who had the nullified pick 6, was the closest one to the pass.

Addison now has 9 touchdown catches on the year, most by any rookie in the NFL this season.

Vikings were put in position by Ty Chandler’s 30-yard run.

  • Offsides strikes again. Germaine Pratt gets a pick 6 and its called back because Trey Hendrickson was ahead of the ball. This comes after the same penalty negated a huge play for Kansas City last week.

  • The score came with a milestone for Mixon:

  • Don’t count the Bengals out yet! Joe Mixon gets into the end zone and the game is tied 17-17.

  • Jake Brown converts on third and 21 like a seasoned veteran, with a deep middle pass to Ja’Marr Chase.

  • That touchdown was brought to you, in part, by Joe Mixon, who picked up the blitz to make that pass from Browning possible.

  • Tee Higgins opens the third quarter with his first touchdown reception since Week 2! After the extra point, Bengals trail 17-10.

  • Some catches just make you say “wow.” Rookie Jordan Addison snags a ball that almost hit the turf and scoops it away for a 37-yard touchdown. Extra point is good. Vikings lead 14-3.

  • Vikings get the ball to start the second half.

  • Scratch that, catch was ruled incomplete. Bengals don’t get a chance to answer as time runs out in the half.

  • The wild pick is followed by an even wilder catch. Browning throws a 40-yarder to Tee Higgins, who was covered. He won the battle over CB Mekhi Blackmon for the 50/50 ball.

  • But not Vikings ball for long! Bengals DE BJ Hill notched an interception on a short pass up the middle, his second in two games.

  • Browning was sacked by Danielle Hunter for the second time today. Two plays later, it’s Vikings ball again.

  • Mike Hilton! The Bengals CB intercepted a pass intended for Vikings WR Justin Jefferson in the red zone, bringing it to Cincinnati’s 17.

  • Vikings tried a trick play at Cincinnati’s 25 but it didn’t pan out.

  • Ah, yikes. Jake Browning targeted wideout Charlie Jones for a deep touchdown pass that went just barely out of his reach. Jones didn’t seem aware that he was going to be open when he started running his route, only speeding up when he realized the ball was coming.
