Dr. Sanjay Gupta On Call: What are your questions about reducing Alzheimer’s risk?

There’s new evidence — and new hope — that lifestyle interventions can lead to cognitive improvement in people with mild cognitive impairment and early dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease.

Some participants in one trial were featured in CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s documentary “The Last Alzheimer’s Patient,” streaming today on MAX as part of “The Whole Story With Anderson Cooper.” They made changes such as consuming a vegan diet, doing daily aerobic exercise, practicing stress reduction and engaging in an online support groups for 20 weeks.

Some in the small trial saw no improvement or dropped out. But for some, the results were life-changing. “The cloud of the Alzheimer’s diagnosis slowly started to lift,” one participant, 67-year-old Tammy Maida, told Gupta.

Gupta also underwent a battery of tests to help understand how his brain is performing and what his risk for Alzheimer’s might be — and came away with a list of lifestyle changes he hopes will lead to a long, healthy future.

What are your questions about lifestyle and brain health? Are there changes you’re considering to reduce your risk of dementia or Alzheimer’s or to keep your brain healthy? Share your questions with CNN below.
