Dua Lipa sent fans completely wild as she brought out Tame Impala during her much-awaited Glastonbury headlining set on Friday night.
The singer, 28, headlined the world-famous music festival for the first time this year, performing an impressive medley of her best-loved hits at Worthy Farm in Somerset.
It has long become tradition for headliners to bring out other huge stars to duet with, and Dua did not fail to disappoint with her surprise act.
She sent the crowds completely wild as she brought out Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker to sing his 2015 smash hit The Less I Know the Better in a very well-kept secret.
Dua danced across the stage as she joined him in belting out the chorus of the popular track, which has racked up more than 1billion streams since its release.
Fans were quick to take to X – formerly known as Twitter – to comment on the ‘unforgettable’ and ‘perfect’ moment as they heaped praise on the duet.
‘I’m rewatching all Dua’s Glastonbury performance. It’s truly amazing. The production the fits the dancing the extended instrumentals TAME IMPALA. I love her,’ one wrote.
A second said: ‘Dua Lipa sang The Less I Know The Better by Tame Impala with TAME IMPALA at Glastonbury 2024! Unbelievable and unforgettable evening!’
‘Congrats Dua Lipa. Amazing headliner who captured the crowd, owned her set & Tame Impala was a quality cameo,’ a third gushed.
A fourth tweeted: ‘Dua Lipa bringing out Tame Impala during her Glastonbury set was not on my bingo card for 2024 but I love it.’
While another added: ‘I’m never shutting up about this Dua Lipa and Tame Impala moment.’
Fans had been expecting Dua to bring out Calvin Harris to duet their anthem One Kiss, but she kept the crowds on her toes with Kevin as her unpredicted surprise guest.
Australian producer Kevin worked with Dua on her latest album Radical Optimism along with the likes of Danny L Harle, Ian Kirkpatrick and Andrew Wyatt.
Dua turned Glastonbury into a festival-turned nightclub for a whole hour and 45 minutes, singing hits including Houdini, Cold Heart and even a remix of New Rules.
She went through a medley of hits and performed several acrobatic dance routines in a leather studded bodysuit as she was cheered on by thousands of eager fans.
Dua said she had dreamed about headlining Glastonbury Festival for her ‘whole life’ as she kicked off the prestigious Pyramid stage slot.
She told the crowd: ‘I can’t believe this, I’ve dreamed about this my whole life.’
‘And I can’t believe I’m right up here, right here, with you guys, I’m so happy to be here with you guys tonight.’
The pop superstar opened her first headline performance at the festival with impressive choreography to her hit track Training Season from her third studio album, Radical Optimism, which was released earlier this year.
Coldplay will also be taking to the stage for Glastonbury’s Saturday headlining set, while American R&B singer SZA will headline on Sunday.
Country star Shania Twain will play the coveted Legends slot while other huge names including Charli XCX, Olivia Dean and Little Simz are among the line-up.
Organiser Emily Eavis recently defended the festival line-up amid criticism that there is a lack of rock bands.
‘I think the line-up reflects what’s happening in the music world at the moment – there aren’t a lot of new rock acts to choose from, if I’m honest,’ she told BBC Radio 2.
‘Hopefully that will emerge again, my heyday was 1995 with Pulp and Oasis and Radiohead… and that was great, but music changes all the time and right now this is where we’re at.
‘Every year, we’ve been criticized for being too rock, too grime, too hip hop, too pop… it’s just part of our year.’
