Israel kills son of Hamas leader in West Bank

World News

Israeli forces have shot dead the son of a former Hamas leader in the West Bank, claiming the son served as the head of the terrorist group’s infrastructure in the region.

Mohammad Omar Daraghmeh was fatally shot inside his car during an early morning raid on the West Bank city of Tubas on Friday, according to The Telegraph.

Photos shared online showed a bullet-ridden Kia, allegedly belonging to Daraghmeh — whose father, Omar Daraghmeh, was also a Hamas leader in the West Bank who died while imprisoned in Israel last October.

The Israeli Defense Forces said a number of weapons and military-style equipment, including automatic rifles, were found inside the vehicle.

Hamas forces also confirmed Daraghmeh’s death, saying he was a member of the al-Qassam Brigades unit.

His death came just days after Israeli forces killed another Hamas leader’s children and grandchildren in an airstrike.

Ismail Haniyeh’s three sons and three grandchildren were traveling in a car through Gaza’s Shati refugee camp to visit family on the first day of the Muslim holiday of Eid-al-Fitr when it was struck by a missile on Wednesday.

The Israeli military said in the aftermath that Haniyeh’s sons were all operatives of Hamas’ armed wing, the al-Qassam Brigades.

Separately, the IDF has reported that the head of Hamas’s internal security in northern Gaza was killed in an airstrike on Thursday, according to the Times of Israel.

It claimed that Radwan Muhammad Abdullah Radwan was a known operative in Hamas’s military wing.

“Radwan gave orders to Hamas operatives and was responsible for directing armed terrorists to take control of humanitarian aid trucks in the northern Gaza Strip,” the IDF said in a statement.

It added that his death “degrades Hamas’s capabilities to attack and take control of humanitarian aid.”
