The internet is buzzing about Jason Momoa’s new girlfriend, Adria Arjona, after he hard-launched their relationship on Instagram on Monday. This might seem like surprising news, but the truth is that their love has been on simmer for quite some time, and he’s been teasing fans about it. The 44-year-old actor met the 32-year-old actress on the set of the 2021 Netflix movie, Sweet Girl, while he was still married to Lisa Bonet — but there’s a catch!
Momoa was legally married to his wife of almost five years at the time, but the couple had privately separated. Bonet and Momoa called it quits on October 7, 2020, so by the time he and Arjona heated things up, there was no overlap with his marriage. Bonet filed for divorce on January 8 of this year, and they amicably settled their legal issues one day later. With Momoa free to share his love with the world, he went big with a carousel of snapshots from their recent trip to Japan.

He referenced Arjona in the caption by charmingly calling her, “mi amor,” but if anyone is confused, look no further than their sweet photos together. The body language in the second image shows them cuddled together with his arms enveloping her and her hand resting lovingly on his arm. It’s serious! “Japan, you are a dream come true you blew my mind,” he wrote. “We’re so thankful for everyone who opened their homes, making memories with new friends and old friends, sharing another amazing adventure with mi amor. ON THE ROAM motorcycles and mayhem. All my aloha j.”
Arjona married lawyer Edgardo Canales in 2019, but not much is known about their split and whether they filed for divorce. However, it seems like she’s been entrenched in the Momoa household for a hot minute because his stepdaughter Zoë Kravitz cast Arjona in her directorial debut, Blink Twice, starring Channing Tatum, which is expected in theaters on Aug. 23. Kravitz is now engaged to Tatum so that wedding will likely be amazing with Momoa, Bonet, and Lenny Kravitz all in attendance.
Bonet and Momoa were together for 13 years when they decided to get married in October 2017. The former duo shares two kids, daughter Lola, 16, and son Nakoa-Wolf, 15, and are peacefully co-parenting together. They waited until January 2022 to announce their separation via Instagram: “We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times … A revolution is unfolding ~and our family is of no exception … feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring,” the joint statement read. “And so~ We share our Family news~ That we are parting ways in marriage. We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy ~ But so that~ as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty.”
