BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Local Republican and Democratic parties’ leaders tell us they are just looking forward to what each of the candidates have to say about their plans for our country.
Tho Bishop with the Bay County Republican party said he hopes Former President Donald Trump talks about the contrast between the last four years compared to his term. He is also hoping he discusses the economy and border security.
“I think the economy is the number one issue right now, again two records there that I think need to be contrasted,” said Tho Bishop Chairman of the Bay County Republican party. “Again I’m interested in the weaponization of the government, in particular. Biden has been giving these rants about how Donald Trump is a threat to democracy when really, it’s the weaponization we’ve seen under his regime going after political opponents. That’s the real threat to our norms and so I hope that is given proper time and particularly given the stage of the moderators that we have at this debate. “
The Chairman of the Bay County Democratic Party tells us she is hoping President Joe Biden talks about his plans for the economy as well as tax credits for first-time home buyers and capping affordable housing.
“First and foremost I hope we get to see a debate that talks about what they’re going to do in the next four years,” said Laura Bjorklund Chairman of the Bay County Democratic party. “What their plans are, how to improve the average person’s life. So, I’m not so concerned about Biden showing that side and what I would hope that he would put out are his plans on the economic front and general democracy sort of thing. “Specifically, while the job market is great and inflation is finally starting to come down I would like to see his plans on improving the households, he’s brought down some drug prices.”
