CANTON, N.C. — A North Carolina man is sharing his story after just discovering a strange object that may have been from outer space.
The object hasn’t been inspected by aerospace experts, but the discovery has a lot of people scratching their heads.
Finding something so rare along a very remote trail in Canton, North Carolina, is almost unheard of. But it did happen to Justin Clontz, who found it with a co-worker.
“It’s once in a lifetime. You know it don’t happen every day,” Clontz said.
Burnt carbon fiber dotted the surface of heavy duty pieces and plates of metal. It was all held together by what look like thick bolts.
Clontz was working his job doing grounds maintenance at The Glamping Collective in Haywood County.
He walked about a half-mile down this trail when his friend pointed it out.
“We don’t know what it is,” Clontz said. “We just know that it’s not from up here.”
A closer look shows the object is sturdy and heavy duty.
You see all the reinforcements, the bolts, the carbon fiber and a dense material amid it all.
It was so heavy that Clontz had to tow the thing.
“I just tied a rope to it and drug it out with a lawn mower,” Clontz said. “It’s a one in a million chance that it lands especially, if it landed somewhere off the trail in the woods you’d have never found it, but it just happened to land on the trail.”
The Glamping Collective’s owner plans on reaching out to aerospace experts to figure out what exactly it is and where it came from.
Until then, this just remains a mystery in the mountains.
