PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Thursday is a First Alert Weather Day as nasty storms that have been hitting the south are now in the Pittsburgh area.
Parts of Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, and Westmoreland counties are under a flood warning until 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
On social media, the National Weather Service said a flash flood emergency has been issued for parts of southwestern Allegheny County and northern Washington County due to more than 4 inches of rain falling.
“Water rescues in vehicles and homes are ongoing,” the tweet said. “This is an extremely dangerous situation for locations in the highlighted area. “
The tornado watch for Fayette, Greene and Washington counties has expired.
There’s a flood watch until 2 a.m. for most of the area and a flood advisory for the Ohio River at Pittsburgh until Monday afternoon, with the Mon Wharf set to close on Friday. There’s a wind advisory for the ridges until 11 p.m. with gusts near 50 mph.

The storms weaken as they move to the east where most of us are under a slight risk (2 out of 5) for severe weather. With this, damaging winds and flooding are the biggest threat but isolated areas could see large hail and even a tornado.

Storms die down right around midnight, and we are left with showers and a few rumbles of thunder overnight. Temperature around midnight will still be in the mid-50s then fall through the day on Friday. Lows Saturday morning will be in the low to mid-40s. It’ll stay windy through Friday and Saturday with gusts around 20-30 mph.

Saturday looks great with partly sunny skies and highs near normal, around 60 degrees.
Sunday we have the chance for a stray shower or thunderstorm in the afternoon but most of the day will be partly to mostly sunny with highs above normal in the low 70s.
The warm weather sticks around through the week with highs in the mid-70s and the chance for a few showers and thunderstorms.
