The Harrisburg region could see severe thunderstorms Sunday evening, according to the National Weather Service, although the most serious storms are expected further north.
The NWS has issued a hazardous weather outlook for central Pennsylvania — from the Maryland to New York borders — that calls for damaging wind gusts 60 mph or greater and possible tornadoes and hail between 4 and 11 p.m. on Sunday.
The strongest storms are most likely to occur to the northwest of Interstate 81, according to the NWS.
More locally, the Harrisburg area is expected to see showers and thunderstorms, possibly severe, before 1 a.m. Monday, according to the NWS.
Beyond that, the week is shaping up a springlike, with showers forecast mid-week.
