This week’s episode of Dynamite closed with a hot angle where Jack Perry, the Young Bucks, and Kazuchika Okada worked together to take out President Tony Khan, culminating with a Meltzer Driver that spiked Khan on his neck:
Khan appeared at the NFL Draft the next night wearing a neck brace, but it wasn’t until tonight’s (Apr. 27) episode of Collision in Jacksonville that AEW provided an official update on his health.
Tony Schiavone delivered the news that Khan suffered “multiple head and neck injuries” and has been advised by doctors that he should not travel while recovering. As a result, he will be working remotely from Jacksonville when AEW returns to Canada next week.
If it turns out to be a shoot that Khan is not backstage for AEW TV in Canada, I believe this will be the first time he’ll ever miss an AEW show.
Commentator Nigel McGuinness pointed out that if things get out of control without Khan on site, the responsibility to run the show will likely fall onto the EVPs, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson, who injured Khan in the first place.
Kenny Omega happens to be returning to AEW next week, so it conveniently sets up a scenario for the best version of The Elite to do something terrible to him when he comes home to Winnipeg.
