Netflix viewers were sent wild over Stephen Graham’s new show Bodies, after the series hit screens on Thursday morning.
Based on the mind-bending graphic novel by Si Spencer, the new series is centred around four detectives, four timelines and one body.
Bodies is set across a period from 1890 to 2053, the crime thriller sees the same murder happening multiple times over the 150 years span.
Flooding Twitter hours after the series was unveiled on the streaming giant, fans branded the show: ‘A weird, clever, beautiful, time-bending mystery’, while others confessed they were binging the ‘brilliant’ show just hours after release.
Users wrote: ‘Last month, I was invited down to watch exactly one episode of Bodies, the new @Netflix series based on the graphic novel, and I’ve thought about it every day since. It’s FINALLY out today, and I’m so happy…

A Portugese X user penned: ‘Tudo resultou muito bem no primeiro episódio. A minissérie tem todas as condições para se tornar um clássico instantâneo, basta continuar a trilhar o caminho tão bem quanto o fez nesta introdução.
The tweet translates to: ‘Everything worked out very well in the first episode of #Bodies. The miniseries has all the conditions to become an instant classic, just continue to follow the path as well as you did in this introduction’.
Bodies is set across a period from 1890 to 2053, the crime thriller sees the same murder happening multiple times over the 150 years span.
Created by Paul Tomalin, the show is a police procedural with a twist.
When a body – the same body – is found on Longharvest Lane in London’s East End in 1890, 1941, 2023 and 2053, one detective from each period must investigate.
As connections are drawn across the decades, the detectives soon discover their investigations are linked, and an enigmatic political leader Elias Mannix (Stephen), becomes increasingly central.
Questions arise – with viewers asking did he have a part to play in the murder? Or is something far more sinister at play?
To solve the mystery, the four detectives must somehow collaborate and uncover a conspiracy spanning over 150 years.
Stephen received his big break back in 2000 when he starred as Tommy in Snatch before he secured his breakout role as Andrew ‘Combo’ Gascoigne in the 2006 film This Is England.
The OBE has since achieved incredible success in ITV drama Little Boy Blue, BBC drama Line Of Duty and as Andy Jones in 2021 film Boiling Point.
Joining Stephen is a stellar cast including Netflix’s Unorthodox star Shira Haas, who plays future detective DS Iris Maplewood.
She will be joined by Jacob Fortune-Lloyd from The Queen’s Gambit as DS Charles Whiteman and The Sandman star Amaka Okafor who plays DS Shahara Hasan.
Completing the line up of detectives as DI Alfred Hillinghead is Kyle Soller who is best known for his role in BBC drama Poldark.
Jam packed with suspense and anticipation, the series is set to have viewers on the edge of their seats as the truth unfolds.
