Ryan Gosling Oscars 2024 Performance: I’m Just Ken

Ryan Gosling and Mark Ronson took the stage at the Oscars 2024 to perform their Barbie hit “I’m Just Ken.”

Gosling kicked off the performance from his seat in the audience behind co-star Margot Robbie, decked out in a hot pink, bedazzled custom Gucci suit, matching leather gloves and Gucci sunglasses. Gosling was joined by Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Ncuti Gatwa and more of the Kens from the Barbie film, who took the stage alongside their onscreen leader, donning suits with tails and top hats. Slash also made a special appearance during the performance.

When the Oscar nominee took his performance into the audience, Robbie, America Ferrera and Greta Gerwig sang alongside their Barbie co-star, with Emma Stone chiming in as well.

Gosling and Ronson’s fellow 2024 Oscars performers include Jon Batiste, Becky G, Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell and Scott George and the Osage Singers, all of whom were nominated for best song.

Batiste performed “It Never Went Away” from Netflix’s American Symphony; while Becky G sang the Diane Warren-penned “The Fire Inside” from Flamin’ Hot, which marks the prolific songwriter’s 15th nomination in the category.

Scott George and the Osage Singers will perform the Osage-language tribal song “Wahzhazhe (A Song For My People)” from Apple’s Killers of the Flower Moon; and Eilish and O’Connell took the stage for another Barbie hit, their Grammy-winning song “What Was I Made For?” which took home the best original song trophy.

The song nominations for the Greta Gerwig-directed film mark two of its eight nods for the night, which also include best picture, supporting actress for America Ferrera, Gosling for supporting actor, Gerwig and Noah Baumbach for adapted screenplay, costume design and production design.

Dua Lipa’s “Dance the Night” from the box office sensation was also shortlisted for the best original song Oscar but did not garner a nod, as the Film Academy only allows for two songs from one film to be recognized for the category.

The 96th annual Academy Awards are airing live on ABC coast to coast on Sunday, at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in a new earlier time slot (7-10:30 p.m. ET/4-7:30 p.m. PT), with Jimmy Kimmel returning as host for a fourth time.
