Shannon Sharpe went viral over the weekend for managing to get his hands on a pair of Steph Curry’s signed, game-worn shoes.
The First Take host was in attendance at Crypto.com Arena to see LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers take on Curry’s Golden State Warriors.
Golden State won by a scoreline of 128-121 and afterwards, Sharpe was spotted copping a signed pair of Curry’s Under Armour sneakers from the man himself.
Sharpe, a die-hard fan James fan, was ridiculed online for ‘cheating’ on LeBron while others joked he was looking around to see if James was watching.
Speaking on his ‘Nightcap‘ podcast, Sharpe addressed the jokes and revealed what was said during his interaction with four-time champion Curry.
“Twitter had all the jokes saying I’m just making sure LeBron doesn’t catch me,” Sharpe told co-host Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson.
Sharpe then showed off the autographed trainers to the camera and revealed him and Steph are the same size – a thirteen.
“I’ma put them in a case,” Sharpe replied after ‘Ocho’ asked him if he was going to wear them.
“It was actually my first time ever meeting Steph,” Shannon went on.
“We had a conversation, I said ‘hey bro, I appreciate you, I just wanted to see you.’
Sharpe then held the shoes up to the camera to reveal a written message inside them.
“Not for resale,” he read out.
“That’s his actual shoe right off his foot. They will never be sold. They’re going in a container.”
The original video of Sharpe and Curry caused a stir on social media as fans trolled the NFL Hall of Famer for switching allegiances from LeBron to Curry.
“He looking around because he don’t want Lebron to see him with the opps… too bad it’s 2024 and everybody record everything,” one person joked.
“Unc looking around to make sure Bron doesn’t catch him,” said another.
“shannon nervous cuz he cheating on lebron,” joked a third.
Sharpe found the funny side on his ‘Nightcap’ podcast but fired back at fans who suggested he couldn’t be fans of two players at once.
He replied to one fan on X: “You can only be a fan of 1 player? Sounds pretty ridiculous 2 me.”
Lebron and Curry have enjoyed a historic rivalry over the years, meeting in four consecutive Finals between 2015-2018.
Curry and the Warriors got the best of ‘Bron and the Cavs in three of those series, although James did win one in 2016 after overturning a 1-3 deficit.
The veteran’s have seen it all over their storied careers, although their encounter on Saturday night was overshadowed by a truly bizarre incident.
The final 1:50 of the game lasted a total 22 minutes due to replay reviews and shot-clock malfunctions.
Officials tried to restart the game a total of four times but the shot-clock wasn’t working leading to a major delay in action.
Boos rang out the arena as cameras panned to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez looking utterly bored in their court-side seats.
Eventually, the Crypto.com Arena public address announcer had to count down the shot clock over the arena speakers.
“It was bizarre,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said.
“It seems like a few times a year you get clock issues. That’s about as extreme as I’ve been a part of where the backup unit doesn’t work either.
“It’s unfortunate. I felt bad for the fans. That was a great game, and then the last two minutes everyone is just kind of looking at each other wondering what to do.”
The Dubs were ultimately able to come away with the win which saw them leapfrog the Lakers in the Western Conference.
Golden State are currently in 9th out West with a 35-31 record while the 36-32 Lakers are a spot behind in 10th.
