Tekken 8 character usage from the game’s first offline major at Frosty Faustings XVI

The fighting game community is still in the midst of Tekken 8’s big launch weekend, and we already got to see it in action at one of the larger offline events of the new year.

Frosty Faustings XVI wrapped up earlier today with Tekken 8 as the last big tournament there, so we’ve gone back and gotten the character usage statistics from the top placers as the game’s first offline major of size.

We were able to track most of the top 32 to get an idea of who was showing up later in the brackets with some interesting results.

There’s at least 18 different mains present in total with only four of them being repeats, so we got to see a good number of characters being tried out this weekend.

Devil Jin had probably the best showing overall considering there were two of him in the top 8 and another in the top 12 though JACK-8 wasn’t far behind either.

Along with those two, we also had King, Zafina, Hwoarang, Yoshimitsu and Xiaoyu in the top 8 with the masked wrestler taking home the prize in the hands of Sicoby.

These results admittedly probably won’t have much of an impact on how the competitive scene shapes up in the coming weeks and months as more tournaments get underway, but it is still fascinating to see who people are picking up at the start and finding early success with.

With 209 registered for this early tournament, the top 32 here represents the best 15% of players at the event.
