Texas A&M vs. Oklahoma State score, updates, highlights from Texas Bowl

Texas A&M’s rematch of the 2019 Texas Bowl vs. Oklahoma State didn’t go quite as planned on Wednesday.

The Aggies fell 31-23 to Mke Gundy and Oklahoma State, causing them to fall to 7-6, (4-4 in SEC play) on the season. But Texas A&M was hobbled from nearly the start after starting quarterback Jaylen Henderson lasted just one play before exiting with a right arm injury.

With Henderson injured, Texas A&M instead turned to Marcel Reed. The freshman quarterback turned in an admirable performance, completing 20 of 33 passes for 361 yards and an interception. He also ran 10 times for 29 yards and a score. He also had the opportunity to mount a last-second, game-tying drive, though his Hail Mary attempt was intercepted at the 5-yard line.

Reed’s Cowboys counterpart Alan Bowman completed 34 of 49 passes for 402 yards and two touchdowns to two interceptions. His two favorite receivers by far were Rashod Owens (10 catches) and Brennan Presley (16 catches), who combined for 316 yards. Owens caught both of Bowman’s touchdown passes.

And of course, Doak Walker Award winner Ollie Gordon II turned in another impressive performance, rushing 27 times for 118 yards and a score.
