What To Know About Its Stars

Marvel has officially found their Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm. The cast of the anticipated The Fantastic Four reboot has been confirmed by the studio on Valentine’s Day. Here’s what to know about its stars.

The cast was announced by Marvel via a surprise Valentine’s post on Wednesday, Feb. 14. “Happy Valentine’s Day from Marvel’s First Family! Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn are The Fantastic Four,” the caption said. An updated premiere date for The Fantastic Four — July 25, 2025 — was also released, following multiple delays over the years.

Rumors have been swirling about the film’s casting since 2019. The upcoming installment marks the third Fantastic Four movie adapted for the big screen. Fantastic Four (2015) was a box office flop and received poor ratings, while Fantastic Four (2005) also suffered from poor reviews but did better commercially.

Under Phase 6, Marvel has taken on the challenge of rebooting the films as Disney plans to lean heavily into franchises in 2024 and beyond. “Marvel is starting to focus on its strongest franchises going forward, but I’ll leave it at that,” Disney CEO Bob Iger said on an earnings call on Feb. 8. “I think given the environment and what it takes to get people out of their homes to see a film, doing that, leaning on franchises that are familiar is actually a smart thing.”

The Fantastic Four has been in the works since Disney first acquired the rights from Fox in 2019. Marvel president Kevin Feige later confirmed the film at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2019. Now that the cast for Fantastic Four has been revealed, learn more about the film’s stars and their most popular roles, from The Last of Us to Stranger Things.

Pedro Pascal Is Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic

Pedro Pascal is taking on the role of Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic in the MCU’s The Fantastic Four reboot. The three-time Emmy nominee was rumored to be playing Richards in November of last year when Deadline reported that the actor was in talks to play the leader of the superhero team.

John Krasinski (who portrayed Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness), Adam Driver, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Matt Smith were reportedly running for the role at some point, but ultimately, Marvel went with Pascal.

The Chilean-American actor has soared to new heights in the last few years. Pascal stars in HBO’s The Last of Us, Disney+’s The Mandalorian, and will appear in the anticipated Gladiator sequel. Pascal will also be reprising his role as Din Djarin in the new big-screen film The Mandalorian & Grogu.

Pascal shared the news of his casting as Richards on Instagram. “From our family to yours 💙💙💙💙 #TheFantasticFour, in theaters July 25, 2025 #AllYouNeedIsLove,” he captioned the post.

Joseph Quinn Is Johnny Storm/The Human Torch

Joseph Quinn will also make his MCU debut in the Fantastic Four film as Johnny Storm, also known as The Human Torch. Quinn steps into a role previously held by Chris Evans and Michael B. Jordan in the 2005 and 2015 versions, respectively.

Quinn gained notoriety for his role as Eddie Munson in Season 4 of Stranger Things on Netflix. He’s also slated to play Roman Emperor Caracalla in Ridley Scott’s sequel Gladiator. Another upcoming project for Quinn is A Quiet Place: Day One opposite fellow Marvel star Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther, Wakanda Forever).

Ebon Moss-Bachrach Is Ben Grimm/The Thing

Ebon Moss-Bachrach is joining The Fantastic Four cast as Ben Grimm (aka The Thing), but the actor is no stranger to Marvel. He previously portrayed David Lieberman in the Marvel series, The Punisher, on Netflix.

Moss-Bachrach is best known for playing Richie in the successful Hulu series The Bear and Desi Harperin in HBO’s Girls. Like his co-star Pascal, he’s also acted in a Star Wars show in the first season of Andor.

“From our family to yours: HAPPY VALENTINE’S!!! #thefantasticfour,” he wrote in his announcement post on Instagram.

Who Will Play Dr. Doom in The Fantastic Four?

The Fantastic Four’s main villain, Dr. Victor Von Doom (Dr. Doom), has not yet been cast in the upcoming reboot. It’s currently unknown whether Dr. Doom will play a part in the 2025 version or if he’ll be saved for a larger MCU movie.
